Yoinked from our dear Dory :) Oops! I forgot to publish this one, I had it saved as a draft. *LOL*

Welcome to the Christmas edition of getting to know your friends. Okay, here's what you're supposed to do, and try not to be a SCROOGE!!! Just copy (not forward) this entire note and paste into a new note that you can share. Change all the answers so that they apply to you.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
I like gift bags, with pretty tissue paper peeking out of the top.

2. Real tree or Artificial?
I've had both, and sometimes no tree. This will be a no-tree year. What goes up, must come down. Ugh!

It's a Wonderful Life (Merry Christmas, George!)

Senior Year

Fill this out about your SENIOR year of high school! The longer ago it was, the more fun the answers will be!
IN YOUR SENIOR YEAR DID YOU...

1. Did you date someone from your school?
No, I dated a guy from Newfield, Paul Bonanni. I really liked him, but was not ready for a serious relationship. I was always very young for my age, I think. I'm still friends with his family today. We went out off and on during most of that year.

2. Did you marry someone from your high school?
No. My first husband went to Miller Place, my sweet hubby I have now went to Patchogue-Medford.

3. Did you car pool to school?
No, I took the bus or walked, when I showed up at all. One of my friends in Chorus said to me once, "Oh my gosh! You're here three days in a row?!"

4. What kind of car did you have?
In senior year, I called it Mom's car.

5. What kind of car do you have now?
I drive a Dodge Grand Caravan Sport.

6. Its Saturday night...where are you now?
This past Saturday night, I was floating around Second Life, looking for those POE Globes for the Peace On Earth Globe Hunt, and trying to up my acreage in the game I play there, Tiny Empires.

7. It is Saturday night...where were you then?
I don't know. Was there Theatre Arts on Saturday nights?! Back then, it was all about Theatre Arts and St. Margaret's. We had done West Side Story at school, and Godspell at St. Margaret's. Ginny and I also did a skit in the Senior Variety Show, which was called "Baby Snooks and Daddy".

8. What kind of job did you have in high school?
Suffolk Life, as all Mahoney kids did. Our mom was a manager, we had to!

9. What kind of job do you do now?
I work at an ambulette company. (An ambulette is a basically a medical taxi, for those from other places, where they're called something else.)

10. Were you a party animal?
I was a theatre and singing animal.

11. Were you considered a flirt?
I might have been. ;-)

12. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir?
We called it chorus.

13. Were you a nerd?
Is that really for me to say? I think so, in a good way.

14. Did you get suspended or expelled?
Funny you should ask that. I did get suspended once, and I just recently found one of the girls I got drunk with in school. *ROTFL* She brought a bottle of Seagrams 7 in , and we drank it (yes, the WHOLE bottle- one those quart bottles, not a little 750) in the girls room. There was one other girl, I can't remember her name, hmmm, I think it was Carolyn. That's right, kids, I am not a role model. At least, back then I wasn't.

15. Can you sing the fight song?
Um, the school sang? I can sing the school song, and still do, fairly often.
*clears throat*
Often in these hallowed halls,
Echoes of old Cougar calls,
Beckon you and me to remember.

High school games,
New friends and fun,
Life had only just begun
Then the day for us to be leaving.

Though mem'ries may in time grow dim,
Random thoughts become our hymn
To Blue and White Centereach High.

16. Who was/were your favorite teacher(s)?
Mr. Imperiale, of course! Y'mean there were other classes?

17. Where did you sit during lunch?
With Lori Wenig, and a bunch of other people. I remember Micheal Giordano and I reading Romeo and Juliet together and laughing our heads off at "I bite my thumb at you", so I guess he was there sometimes. *shrugs* No other names spring to mind.

18. What was your school's full name?
Centereach High School

19. When did you graduate?
Good question. In the summer.

20. What was your school mascot?
Cougar

21. If you could go back and do it again, would you?
Yeah, right.

22. Did you have fun at Prom?
Yes and no. I went with Paul from question 1. I asked him as a friend, but he acted a bit like he wanted to get back together and he seemed serious, and I ran scared! *sighs* I've regretted that so many times, but I suppose it all turned out for the best. He's happy, I'm happy. I just felt like I'd let him down.

23. Do you still talk to the person you went to Prom with?
I'm friends with his family on Facebook. He does not have one, but if he did, I would totally be friends with him.

24. Are you planning on going to your next reunion?
I just missed one :(

25. Do you still talk to people from school?
Absolutely! I'm lifelong friends with some, and there are others I have just reconnected with on Facebook.

26. School Colors? Blue and White

Good-bye, Liam

I just read that the last Clancy Brother, Liam Clancy, has died. I was raised on the music of The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, and I still love them today.

Thanksgiving Divorce

A man in Phoenix calls his son in New York the day before Thanksgiving and says,"I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough".

"Pop, what are you talking about?" the son screams. "Well, we can't stand the sight of each other any longer," the father says. "We're sick of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Chicago and tell her."

Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone. "Like heck they're getting divorced," she shouts, "I'll take care of this,"

She calls Phoenix immediately, and screams at her father, "You are NOT getting divorced. Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother back, and we'll both be there tomorrow. Until then, don't do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?" and hangs up.

The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife with a smile. "Okay," he says, "they're coming for Thanksgiving, and they're paying their own way."

Whatcha makin'?

I got an email today that I think might make for a fun recipe exchange blog.
Here the general idea:
(Slightly reworded email follows)

You have been invited to be a part of a recipe exchange, and I hope you will participate.
You are invited to write a recipe out here, and it should be something quick, easy and without rare ingredients.
Actually, the best one is the one you know in your head and can type right now.
Don't agonize over it, use the one you make when you are short of time.
Don't forget to yoink this and put it on your own blog. :)

Email chain things are sometimes good blog material, aren't they?

Here's mine:
Spaghetti (or Linguine) with white clam sauce

Ingredients:
  • Spaghetti or Linguine  (obviously)
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Garlic- I use 8 cloves, you may want to use less. (use the pre-chopped kind for speed)
  • Red pepper flake -depends on your taste. I use a couple of tablespoons.
  • Clams- I like to use fresh, but we're doing fast recipes, so for now, we'll use canned. Three small cans or one large can works for me.
  • White wine- I like to use Pinot Grigio, about 3/4 cup. Chill the rest to drink with your meal.
  • Juice of one Lemon
  • Flat leaf parsley- 2 handfuls fresh, or a smattering of dry for the fast factor
  • Bread crumbs- can take 'em or leave 'em

(Make the sauce while the pasta is cooking to ensure that it will be hot and ready when the sauce is finished.)

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, and cook the pasta to al dente. Drain well.

While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil (pour around the pan a time or two) over medium in a deep saute pan with a lid.
Add the garlic and red pepper flakes; saute for 2 minutes.
Add the clams, wine, and lemon juice. (only pour in the juice from the canned clams, not the actual clams yet. They're already cooked when they're packaged, and we don't like over-cooked clams)

Add the hot, drained pasta to the pan; add a little butter if you like, and season with salt and pepper. Throw the clams in, and toss for a bit to get the pasta covered with the sauce.
Add chopped parsley and toasted bread crumbs.
Drizzle with a round of olive oil, (if you like) before serving.

My friends have posted this, so I am going to play along too...

Leave ONE WORD (in the comment section) that you think best describes me. It can be only one word. No more. Then copy and paste this on YOUR page so I may leave my one word about you.

Ohmigosh! Has It Finally Happened?

I kinda feel like Steve Martin, in The Jerk, proclaiming that "the new phone book's here".
I logged into Yahoo for my email and I was presented with a page that said "Welcome To Your New Profile!" So please pardon my hysteria while I...

*runs down the street, yelling*

The new profile is here! The new profile is here!

Star Trek Personality Test

I forget where I took this, but it was fun, so here it is. (I think it was on someone's page on Facebook.)

According to the test, I am Captain Kirk. I was hoping for Lwaxana Troi, but Kirk is groovin' too. (maybe they don't have Lwaxana as a possible result...yeah, we'll go with that explanation. **giggles**

You can take it here:

Back in the Saddle Again!

I finally felt like I had gotten enough sleep to try fencing again, and woohoo, I beat Capt Blinker, who at the time of this posting is #4 in the world!
Here's a picture I meant to take only of the scoreboard, but got his "stabbed and dying" animation under my feet, and the comments of Lizza, a spectator in the bleachers, who was rooting us on during the match. *ROTFL*
By the way, this is the fourth time I have beaten Capt at fencing.

62. Without too much thought, favourite movie?
I love While You Were Sleeping. Xx and I just watched that recently.

63. Favourite soup?
Right now, I'm diggin' the 16 bean soup I made yesterday. Talk about yum!

64. Shocking event in your life?
When Kelly (my friend Maryann's daughter, and my Piratess daughter's best friend) died, just short of her 14th birthday. It still affects me so much.

65. Sad event in the last year?
Losing my godfather, losing my mother in law.

66. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or Star Wars?
Love all of them.

67. Fly or road trip?
Road Trip!!! Woot!

68. Favourite thing to drink?
Coffee, Red Wine, Water, Unsweetened freshly brewed Iced Tea.Photobucket

69. What do you dislike most about online ?
Having to settle for cyber hugs.

70. Go to the movie theatre or rent a movie and watch it at home?
Depends on the movie. Most times, I think I'd rather watch at home, but sometimes you just want to see it right away... like with Lord of the Rings.

71. If you had to lose a sense ....what would you rather lose; your hearing or sight?
Hearing, because I could still be online, drive, stuff like that.

72. If you could change only one thing from your past, what would it be?
My past has made me who I am today, and I kinda like being me.

Dipping My Toe Into The Blog Waters Once Again With My First TTT

I have not blogged publicly since my mother in law passed away, a mother in law who actually liked me. This is enough to stop the blogging in many people, but I had another situation happen that paralyzed me even further, which many of you know about, so I won't bore you by going there. Instead, I'll bore you with this! XD
I am now ready to (hopefully) get back in the swing. Thanks to all of you who have left messages and PMed me and helped me remember that I am loved.

You guys rock!Photobucket

 Ten Thoughts Tuesday
1. Geez, I've never done this before, but I think it'll be an easy exercise to get me back on track.

2. I haven't played En Garde fencing for three days. I've been too sleepy to think, and you need to be somewhat alert to play, but I am still ranked in the top 50 in the world. Pretty Dang Cool, if you ask me. Now, if I can only stay up there..not sure if I can pull that off. (My name in the rankings- Laura Laks)

3. If any out there would like to play (though I know there are a big handful who do,) here's the link to the video tutorial. I'd love to fence with you at any time! Actually, you can watch it right here!

4. I'm really excited about going to Ohio to have a mini-(re)union with some of my Multiply homies! Woot!

5. Another game I like to play is called Tiny Empires. It is a wildly successful online game that even has it's own WIKI. I should include a link to my line. You'll find us on the far right, under Princess Terry Ragu, and Prince Capt Blinker.

6. I have more than one avatar playing this game, and my avatar named Katha Sweetwater just got a title bestowed on her. I will now be known as Lemonade Princess. Isn't that sweet? (*giggles*)

7. Xx made her birthday cake, which she said she was not going to do until her CDs from Japan arrived. I was thinking it was so good, I need to post the recipe sometime. It's very heart-healthy, and so good, you do not even need frosting. I made it for my sister once, years ago, and because I was distracted by her visit, I burned it, but it was still reallllly good.

8. I probably could have broken some of these down into more thoughts.

9. I'd be already done, if I had done that.

10. I miss my Gin-Gin, we need to go shopping together...think I'll text her right now.

I just had to take this picture of the local scoreboard a few nights ago. Note that Kartor and I are numbers one and two! Woot!
